Nomadic Souls

MD, Composition, Production, Live

A collaboration between Hip Hop Theatre dancers and Musicians. ‘Talking in Tongues’ is a conceptual piece about ignorance and social tension surrounding Religion, Race & Education. Performed at Breaking Convention – Sadler’s Wells 2013.

I was responsible for creating an original score backing track and perform live. I wanted to explore the interaction between dancers and music so a section of the piece has music manipulated by a dancer wearing a MIDI controller ring. The ring senses the dancer’s movement and transmits this data to a computer where it is turned into MIDI commands to control PAN and Filter cut off frequency. Collaboration with Tuca Milan (LetDrumBeat).

Heather Peace

Bass Guitar, Bass Synth and Backing Vocals

I played bass guitar, bass synth and provided backing vocals in Heather’s band for three UK tours. We performed in some fantastic venues including Old Fruit Market – Glasgow, The Sage – Gateshead, Glee Clubs, Islington Assembly Hall where Alison Moyet joined us for a grande finale. I also played Edinburgh Fringe festival with Heather.

I recorded bass guitar for Heather’s studio album ‘Fairytales’ and co-wrote some of the album tracks. Recorded and produced by Nigel Wright at Sphere Studios, London.

Bass guitar and backing vocals

Triphop outfit, Earthling, put a band together for a small French tour to perform tracks from their 1995 album ‘Radar’ and more recent ‘Insomniac’s Ball’. Performing along side original members (rapper Mau, producer Tim Saul and scratch DJ Bobby Corridor) were Marley Drummond (drums) and Olly Hares (guitar)

On tour with Rox – Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals

Summer Soul Festival Brazil. Sao Paolo, Rio De Janeiro & Florianopolis. Also in the line-up were Florence and the Machine, Seu Jorge, Bruno Mars & Dionne Warwick. Performing a selection of songs live with and without track. Filmed and broadcast live by MTV Brasil.

It was just before Carnival so we were lucky to catch a Samba school rehearsing. Also saw street capoeira, ate a lot of prawns and got stung by jelly fish in the sea. My mobile phone was stolen from backstage but I had such a great time with these guys!

I have also taken my Warwick Corvette bass to the studio with Rox, experimenting with multiple bass layers & FX.

On tour with Tricky.

Loved the improvised feel to this gig. No set was the same. Tricky would strip down the band to silence then begin bringing each instrument in one at the time. He and Fran would improvise over the top creating a live remix of the song.

It was a test to our internal clocks as we would have to keep the beat going, sometimes alone for minutes.
Other times, we would make up grooves on the spot, new songs, just for that moment.
